8U Rosters are posted
We are excited to announce the 8U teams and head coaches. Thank you for the dedication and effort shown by all players during the evaluation process.
As outlined in the Saints Evaluation and Team Selection Policy, the evaluation team was comprised of professional evaluators whose scores were used to make fair and informed team selection decisions. Please remember that we have twice as many players together as we had as separate programs. A key goal of the Saints is to place players where they fit best in terms of skill development and ability to compete. To that point, the Saints are fielding six teams at 8U: one level 4, one level 3, two level 2 teams, and two level 1 teams.
Playing and competing well makes hockey enjoyable. Being consistently overmatched at a level of play higher than the player’s ability is a strong detriment to player development. By being placed where they best fit, players will have more opportunities for success, which will bolster confidence in their hockey skills and ability and will translate into a key ingredient for becoming a good hockey player, a strong desire for the game. We understand that not everyone may have made the team they hoped for, and we empathize with those players.
Our focus will soon shift to developing these young hockey players. Please note that practices will commence Sunday for 8U 4 and 8U 3 teams and next weekend for 8U 2 and 8U 1 teams. Your player's schedule is now in your Crossbar Family Calendar. November ice times will be added soon. If you do not see your player's schedule in the Crossbar Family Calendar, you have not registered on the Saints site. Please do so as soon as possible so we can roster your player and connect your calendar.
If you have any questions or suggestions regarding the selection process, please reach out to our Girls hockey leads, Kevin Dolan (STP) or Ben Young (WSP). We kindly ask that you observe the 24-hour rule before contacting us if you feel emotionally charged; this allows for reflection and leads to more constructive discussions.
We look forward to an exciting hockey season and can’t wait to see everyone at the rink.
Thank you,
The Saints Co-op Committee
